Your People-Pleasing Content is Killing Business— Stop It!
Mar 12, 2025
As a nursepreneur, you’ve been conditioned to put everyone else first. Your patients. Your coworkers. Your family. You’re hardwired to be selfless—to the point where you skip meals, ignore your own needs, and pour from an empty cup. Sound familiar?
Now, here’s the harsh truth: This people-pleasing sh*t is keeping you stuck in business. It’s keeping you broke, invisible, and playing small. And if you don’t fix it, your side hustle will never become the thriving, high-impact business you dream about.
So, let’s talk about why people-pleasing is sabotaging your success and—more importantly—how to stop it.
1. Your Content is Boring AF Because You’re Afraid of Offending Someone
Let’s be real. If you’re a nursepreneur who’s still creating bland, watered-down content, it’s probably because you’re afraid to say the things you really want to say.
You don’t want to ruffle feathers.
You don’t want to be “unprofessional.”
You don’t want to upset that one former coworker who follows you but would never buy from you anyway.
So, instead of posting bold, real, raw content, you keep it safe and generic. And guess what? Safe doesn’t sell.
Your ideal client isn’t looking for another cookie-cutter business owner. They’re looking for someone who makes them think, who challenges them, who speaks to them in a way that makes them say, “Damn, this person gets me.”
And that’s NOT happening if your content is a watered-down, people-pleasing mess.
2. You’re Avoiding Sales Because You Don’t Want to “Bother” People
Selling feels gross to you, doesn’t it?
You’re afraid to DM people because you don’t want to be annoying.
You don’t follow up because you don’t want to seem pushy.
You undercharge for your services because you don’t want people to think you’re greedy.
Meanwhile, your bills don’t give a f*ck about your feelings.
Here’s the truth: If you believe in your offer, if you KNOW it can change someone’s life, then selling is your responsibility.
People-pleasers struggle with sales because they think they’re taking something away from people. But selling isn’t about taking—it’s about giving. You’re giving someone the opportunity to change their life, their health, their business—whatever it is you do.
So stop making it about you. Stop making it about your fear of rejection. Start focusing on the impact you’re here to create as a nursepreneur.
3. You’re Not Standing Out Because You’re Playing It Too Safe
Let’s be honest—there are a ton of nursepreneurs out there. If you’re not making noise, if you’re not showing up in a way that grabs attention, you’re getting drowned out.
Think about the biggest names in your industry. Are they playing it safe? Hell no.
They’re saying the things others are too scared to say.
They’re taking bold stances.
They’re showing up with confidence, even when people disagree with them.
And because of that, they have a tribe of loyal followers who love them, trust them, and buy from them.
So, ask yourself: Are you trying to be liked by everyone? Or are you trying to attract the right people—your dream clients—who will actually buy from you?
Because you can’t have both.
4. How to Stop People-Pleasing and Start Showing Up Like a Boss
Enough with the people-pleasing BS. It’s time to step into your power as a nursepreneur. Here’s how:
🔥 Post the sh*t you actually believe in. Stop filtering yourself to make people comfortable. Say the things your ideal clients need to hear.
🔥 Detach from other people’s opinions. Not everyone will like you, and that’s a good thing. You’re building a brand, not a fan club.
🔥 Charge what you’re worth—without guilt. Your expertise is valuable. Stop undercharging just because you’re afraid someone will say it’s “too expensive.”
🔥 Sell with confidence. You’re not bothering people. You’re offering them a transformation. Stand in that truth.
🔥 Be okay with polarizing people. The more you own your voice, the more you’ll attract the right audience—and repel the ones who were never going to buy from you anyway.
It’s Time to Stop Playing Small
I know letting go of people-pleasing is hard. You became a nurse because you care deeply about people. But if you want to create a business that actually changes lives—including your own—you’ve got to stop playing small.
Because right now, people are waiting for you. They’re waiting for your voice, your expertise, and your leadership. But they’ll never find you if you keep hiding behind safe, generic, people-pleasing content.
So, are you ready to stop playing it safe and start making real money?
